Apple has somehow successfully managed to spread the idea into the consumer population that they possess the only technology that’s worth buying. This idea is even more profound when you think about the strong grip that Apple has been maintaining on the tablet market (to their very successful iPad lines). However, this simply isn’t true and study is suggesting that Apple’s strong grip on the tablet market is beginning to slip, as new Android devices are coming on sale, providing a cheaper tablet option.. If you’re not one of the sheep that follows them blindly – or if you’re one of the sheep that wants to break free of the flock – read on. Your brain will be screaming: “Sell iPad!” in no time. It might even be screaming, “Sell iPhone!” by the time you’re done reading this.

We’ve put this list of the top 5 best Android tablets which are perfect iPad alternatives for you. The following tablet computers so awesome (both in terms of their features as well as their price tags) that it should have Apple fearing for their future.

Google Nexus 7

Boasting a new and improved voice search and a superb screen, the Google Nexus 7 is simply awesome for watching movies, browsing the web and playing video games. It’s a great contender for the best iPad alternative. Interestingly, in a strange way, Google’s Nexus 7 tablet is going to make consumers even more confused, who were already wondering which tablet to buy –  Apple iPad vs Kindle Fire eBook reader!

While it doesn’t have 3G and is restricted to Wi-Fi, it still is far, far cheaper than a new iPad, something a lot of people won’t be able to afford.

Asus Transformer Pad 300

Again, the iPad cannot contend with the fantastic price of the Asus Transformer Pad 300. Its ten-inch screen is more than adequate for your needs and the processor runs at 1.2GHz.

It’s also slightly lighter than the new iPad. What makes this tablet computer stand out from the rest is the fact that the keyboard dock is actually included in the price, plus the fact that the keyboard adds to the overall battery life, making it 12 hours in total.

Sony Tablet S

The specifications on the Sony Tablet S make it stand up to speed against all its competitors. The processor manages to clock in at 1Ghz and it comes with 1GB of memory.

Now onto the fun stuff: the Sony Tablet S comes with front and rear cameras, instant access to all Sony apps as well as the ability to turn itself into a universal Sony remote, meaning you can control your PlayStation with it, for example.

Viewsonic Viewpad 7X

Probably the most compact out of all the tablets so far, this comes with the same processor as the Sony Tablet S but a much better price.

Incredibly powerful for its size, it takes good pictures (though beware low-light conditions). The battery life is astoundingly long and its solid, built-in speakers enhance movie watching and game playing.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 is probably Apple’s biggest bugbear at the moment. The screen hasn’t changed much since the last Galaxy Tab, and to be honest, it doesn’t really need to. Watching full-HD media looks absolutely great. The inclusion of Ice Cream Sandwich as an OS gives the Tab a smooth, refined feel when running it. It has the same performance power as the last Galaxy Tab, and as a result, there are no major performance issues.

Hopefully these great Android alternative tablets (iPad killers) are enough to make you re-assess your reasons to buy an iPad. Let us know if we missed another awesome tablet option via your comments.
